What orthodontic treatments do you offer?

We offer traditional braces, 3M Clarity Advanced brackets as well as clear braces which are similar in style to Invisalign. We also offer early intervention and orthodontic appliances. Before prescribing a treatment we will always carefully and professionally assess your condition and discuss your lifestyle needs.

Will braces hurt?

The only time you should feel any mild discomfort during your treatment is when your braces are first fitted and when you visit us for your adjustment appointment. Your teeth will need to adjust to the new pressure as we tighten your archwire so you may feel some tenderness for a few days.

Our orthodontists will give you all the information you need to help make your treatment time comfortable and as easy as possible.

What lifestyle changes will I have to make when I have braces?

Braces will not impact your life in any significant way. We recommend that you eliminate some things from your diet while you have braces to ensure that your brackets and wires are protected from damage. This includes foods that are crunchy, chewy and hard. If you want to reduce your risk of discolouration you may also want to steer away from foods that may stain such as coffee and red wine.

Hygiene is also important with braces as food can become trapped. It’s imperative that you brush after each meal and floss once per day to keep your mouth healthy and hygienic.

Can I play sport when I have braces?

Yes, you can still continue all of your normal sporting activities. We recommend that you wear a mouthguard for all contact sport. There are different options available, and we will discuss this with you when your braces are fitted.

How often will I need to visit the orthodontist?

If you are undergoing treatment with braces then the average frequency of adjustment appointments is every six to eight weeks. This may also be dictated by your unique case and your treatment plan.

You will still need to visit your general dentist during this time to ensure ongoing optimal oral health.

How much do braces/orthodontic treatment cost?

Orthodontic treatment may be the use of an appliance, fixed braces or removable aligners. The costs for these different sorts of treatment range from $1,800 to $6,900. The best way to find out how much braces or orthodontic treatment will cost for you is to visit us for a consultation.
