Smart Orthodontics was founded by Drs’ Lawrie Smart and Des McKinnon in 1957 and has maintained a reputation for providing quality orthodontic care with integrity for 65 years.
Dr Marie Reichstein is proud to continue that legacy.
Marie’s first interaction with the practice was as a patient during her childhood which inspired her future career. She completed a Bachelor of Dental Surgery and an Honours Degree in Science at The University of Adelaide, followed by a Master of Science in Orthodontics at the University of London, where she was awarded the prestigious Philip Walther Prize. She has lectured extensively and has been actively involved in leadership positions in dental and orthodontic professional organisations. In 2021 Marie was awarded a Distinguished Service Award by the Australian Society of Orthodontists.
Dedicated to ongoing learning, Marie likes to consider ways to improve her patients’ treatment. She is passionate about orthodontics and enjoys working in regional, rural and urban locations. When she is not at work Marie loves cooking, food and wine, travelling, theatre and music and making the most of every day. She enjoys sharing these pastimes with her husband, their children, family and friends.
